Membership Eligibility

Doctoral degree in Library and Information Science or its equivalent [Except Nepal, Cambodia and other countries where doctoral courses are not available. However, in that case, the member should be a faculty in Library and Information Science, in principle]. Only the existing members including the founding and initiating members shall recommend the new members.

I-LISS offers three types of membership: Regular member, Associate member and Corporate Members.

Full member (Individual)

The minimum eligibility to be become a full member of I-LISS should have Doctoral Degree in Library and Information Science, or faculty members in Library and Information Sciences departments or schools, or working Librarian minimum 5 years of experience with a Master's Degree in LIS.

• The respective Regional Chapter Vice President must approve the request of new members to request
• On approval of the Regional Chapter Vice President, new member registration will be confirmed, and member ID Number will be assigned.
• On receipt of membership confirmation, he/she has to pay the prescribed yearly fee to the Society (Ref. Fee) as fixed in consultation with Vice-President of the concerned Regional Chapters.
• To get voting rights to elect Regional Chapters and Society President-elect posts.
• To get a registration fee discount for I-LISS sponsored conferences.
• Membership is not transferable.

General Member

International / National Society or Association of Librarians and Library and Information centers, whose purposes are in accordance with those of the Society, may be admitted as Society Members.

• The respective Regional Chapter Vice President must approve the request of new members to request.
• On approval of the Regional Chapter Vice President, new member registration will be confirmed, and a member ID Number will be assigned.
• On receipt of membership confirmation, he/she has to pay the prescribed yearly fee to the Society (Ref. Fee) as fixed in consultation with the Vice-President of the concerned Regional Chapters.
• No voting rights to elect Regional Chapters and Society President-elect posts.
• To get a registration fee discount for I-LISS sponsored conferences.
• Membership is not transferable.

Corporate Member

International / National organizations involved in LIS professional activities, Business or Publishing Industry, Service etc., whose purposes are in accordance with those of the Society, may be admitted as Society Members. Corporate members are four categories.

Golden Member

Silver Member

Bronze Member

• Corporate member must pay membership fee as prescribed (Ref. membership fee)
• Platinum Members are eligible to sponsor 3 persons to attend I-LISS sponsored Conference without Registration fee
• Golden Members are eligible to sponsor 2 persons to attend I-LISS sponsored Conference without Registration fee
• Silver Members are eligible to sponsor 1 person to attend I-LISS sponsored Conference without Registration fee
• Corporate member has same rights on par with full members except voting rights
